It is really bright

It is a good daySuch a beautiful sunrise this morning. It starts with such beauty and who knows what this day may bring?  We really don’t but we can trust God to see us through the day and pray his wisdom in all the issues that may arise.

A new era in SCCC. I was out for my morning walk, walking and praying. It dawned on me that SCCC is entering into a new era. The Hebrew people did too when they left Egypt, but then failed and wandered for forty years in the wilderness. Finally, they crossed the Jordon River and entered the land. Then they had battles to face.

As I look at SCCC over the last five years we have been in San Carlos, I have seen many changes. The town itself is not the same town we entered. The housing boom is amazing. Everywhere you go there is a new house. Just yesterday I noticed a new billboard. There is a condo/hotel to be built just up the street from my home. Now I know why that new OXXO was built there! And I thought it was for my convenience!

At the church, you can first notice the new detailing of the yard work with new plants, that are planted and not just arriving on their own. Those would be the weeds. But a couple of people are tending to the care of our landscaping. Upstairs in the church, we finished the balcony, and then painted and decorated the old sanctuary. We are almost finished with the kitchen remodel. It is really bright in there with new paint, tile, and lighting. This next couple of weeks is the big finish! In the sanctuary, there is a new drum kit and more Mexican presence in the worship, and now we are on Youtube and on Facebook. The idea of the Youtube channel was that some people are not on FB. And on Youtube people can get subtitles in any language they wish. With a growing Mexican population, we want to be available for them to ‘investigate’ us too. Oh, did you look at the new website? It still needs some touches, but it is very functional. It also can be in Spanish by the click of a button.

So, what is this new era? It is not just about a redecorated building, is it? Can we keep the course of worship and teaching and reaching people all over North America? I think we can. Just as the building is redecorated, I pray that we are not just spruced up, but rather reaching up for more presence of God in our lives so that we can be better suited to reach out. This year let us continue as we were and strive for more. Let us be together in praying for salvations, open repentance of sin, and healings (that can be authenticated), let us be more!

Sunday, we moved from Joshua to Judges. It is not just as if we are reading through the Old Testament. No the story of Gideon had been bubbling inside me for a while. Gideon was the fifth judge of Israel. He was just doing his normal life under difficult circumstances when an angel stepped in. Not what he was expecting. Sometimes God interrupts our normal life without our invitation.

We find our story in Judges Six. The first greeting must have been confusing. Verse 12, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” I don’t think that day he felt like a mighty warrior. Gideon then questions what is God doing because he didn’t see the hand of God on Israel but rather felt abandoned. The angel explains it was not God who abandoned Israel but Israel that walked away from God.

Then the angel gives Gideon his instructions. Verse fourteen if you wish to see it.  The instructions have both directions and a vision of what is to be done. “Am I not sending you?” Yes, but the wrong guy. He was a farmer threshing wheat in a wine press.

Here in short, is what you need to see. God does not see you where you where or where you are but he sees you where you are going. The devil tells you who you are and where you have been. He likes to remind you of that. The devil never tells the truth about where God sees you going or about your great potential.

Who are you going to believe? The message of who you are or the message of where God sees you going?

Blessings, Chuck.
