Good Morning Church Family,

* The AGM has come and gone and it was another great evening of fellowship and information. So grateful to John New for his detailed organization of this event and for such excellence as our MC. We have two brand new elders – Grant Dafoe and Chuck Morton, who will each serve a three year term. We are also grateful for David Long’s 10 years of service as an elder. David will step down for a one year break, but I’m sure will continue to serve in other ways. Thank you, David! We also said farewell to another elder who has served us with incredible grace for a number of years – Chuck Dreiling went home to be with his Lord in January of this year.
            Two new deacons –  Julie Ann Young and Carol White; along with two returning deacons – Maris Kalmbach and Ruben Bustos will join the team for a three year term. So grateful for willing volunteers who want to serve our church family. Thank you to each of you. The bylaws were all passed as presented in the AGM report. Along with a little “Ruth & Rudy’s” cake, we had such a positive evening and we left feeling that the church was well positioned for the next steps the Lord has for our church family. We’re believing the best is yet to come and we welcome 2018!

* If you are looking for a ride to Phoenix or even as far as Lethbridge, Alberta in the next 10 days, we have someone who is looking for a passenger to take along. Connect with me by responding to this email and I will put you in touch with that person.

* Semana Santa – one of our most impactful community events to children is happening on March 27-28. If you are able to be part of it, there is a sign up sheet at the back of the sanctuary. It will be worth it as we see young children brought into God’s Kingdom.

* Talking with Matt yesterday and he shared that they had another two new youth on Friday, that have come through the families attending the Wed evening service. The cross pollination between Children’s, Youth and Wed’s is really taking shape as one ministry opens the door for new attendees in the other. So grateful for the leaders of these three ministries. They truly are seeing God’s hand encouraging their faithful service!

* Pastor David’s Church is once again offering tamales for sale to be delivered on March 11. Please sign up for the flavor of your choice at the back of the sanctuary. This is just one more way we can be supportive of this local Spanish Congregation.

* Missions “Field Tour” – another resounding success as 45+ people participated in the Missions Field Tour. The feedback is so overwhelmingly positive and what a treat to have Jim and our Missions team host another of these events. Ron Cadden got some great pictures and they’re posted on his facebook page if you’d like to have a peak.

* Ladies Conference – I heard Sunday, that there was only 6-8 tickets left for this inspiring event this coming Saturday. Connect with Judy Lunceford if you don’t yet have your ticket. Please note that Cynthia Hiett, the guest speaker, will be joining us for the Sunday morning service as well. This is going to be a “no regrets” weekend!

* Prayer

  • Missionary of the Week: Devon & Marisol Kehler (Belen Casa de Pan)
  • Deacon of the Week: Chuck & Carol Morton (We Care)

 * The “Hey Guy” series – And there was a whole lotta shaking going on in this week’s passage. While 2:6-9 is a striking passage related to the return of Christ, we also saw that the future return of Jesus gives us hope in our present situations, personal situations which may include discouragement and despair. It is however, a hope that is limited to only those who know Jesus as Lord and Savior. The invitation of course is to make Jesus our Lord before the shaking happens.
            We also came to see that the present discouragement of the Jews, the disappointing temple plans, were the very means the Lord used to cause them to look to Him for genuine peace (shalom). Could it be that some of our own disappointments might be God’s way to draw us back to Him and that imminent return He has in store for all believers in Christ? Yes, He gives us peace with Himself and with others now, but the ultimate peace will happen that day we enter His presence. The best is yet to come!
            And what a reason to celebrate on Sunday as 4 people raised their hands to invite Christ into their hearts at the end of the service.  A number of others responded with their commitment to renew their walk with the Lord. And we continue to pray that each of these folks will have a sense of peace, greater than they have ever known.

Praying you all have a great week,
Glenn & Jeannine
