Good Morning to You,
I love Sunday’s. This Sunday I was able to sit back and watch and listen as Pastor Mayra concluded our short series on Roman’s with a message on grace. It was so well thought out and structured! You can pick up the audio on our web site. After service at the door one man stopped and told me that the message was the “kick in the pants that he needed to hear.” Yeah, the Word of God goes out where it should.

Another reason I love Sunday’s is here I am in an “expat” church (That really insults me.) that has more Mexican’s than North Americans! How dare anyone think we are just a bunch of snowbirds. No, we are reaching San Carlos for Jesus’ sake! My heart was blessed when Alphonzo and Rosa and their children walked in. We met this family shortly before VBS and invited mother and children to come to VBS. Now all the family has accepted Jesus as Saviour and Lord and imagine having children that want to go to church. We are in the mission field! I love Sundays.

Ladies Mountain Movers: A time when the ladies gather and pray. Ladies come Wednesday mornings at 9 a.m.. I am sure mountains are being moved. Look out San Carlos, the ladies are praying. I am sure the evil one fears Wednesday mornings!

This Sunday’s Sermon Review “The Grace of God.” by Pastor Mayra Gonzalez
What is grace? A.W. Tozer says that grace is “the good pleasure of God that inclines him to bestow benefits on the undeserving.” It is that while we all have sinned and undeserving of mercy that God makes us justified by the blood of Jesus as a gift. Romans 3:23-24, Grace is not a New Testament concept, it is a quality of God that stands with his righteousness. It is seen in the actions of God as displayed in the entirety of the Bible.
We see grace given to Adam and Eve in the beginning when they rebelled against the direction of God, and yet by an animal’s blood God provided for them coverings of their shame. God did destroy them and ‘start again’ as probably many of us may have. But he offered to them conditions to continue.
Again, we see grace displayed in God’s relationship with Abraham. While Abraham had no descendants, God granted him favour and declared that Abraham would have descendants as numerous as the stars. Abraham believed God, yet he had no evidence of such a possibility, and God seeing his faith granted to him grace to be the father of so many, that they produced a nation.
The Apostle Paul, the persecutor of the early church, knew the mercy and the grace of God. While not deserving mercy, Jesus appeared to him and gave him grace. Paul understood this and explained it in Romans 4:16 (you should really read it) “the promise comes by faith, so that it may rest on grace and …” My faith rests on the unmerited grace of God. Awesome! A fisherman named Peter knew this too. He denied Jesus and yet grace was displayed to him, and Jesus restored Peter.
And perhaps one of the most moving illustration of grace when not deserved is the adulterous woman of John 8:4-11. Here she is caught in the act of adultery and yet Jesus displayed the favour of God upon her and set her free from the hideous trap she had been set up in and set her free of her sin. Instead of death, she was given life.
God is like that. Maybe you think God doesn’t see you, or love you, or maybe you are undeserving. Yet the biblical record shows a God who often shows compassion and grants grace where he wishes. Just stand in faith and receive the grace he offers. He is a righteous God.

May God bless your week, Pastor Chuck.
