It is a good Day, This Sunday we have a baby dedication! Maggie brought us a little guy only 29 days old. It has been a very long time since I held a baby that small. I was honoured with the duty to pray over this little one! God has created each of us with purpose and destiny! My prayer for this little guy, that God will achieve his purpose and destiny in his life.

We had a different worship team this Sunday. Christie was away and Ryan brought in Absalon, who played bass guitar. Pete played electric guitar instead of bass. And a young, Sofia, played the violin. Ruth played the keyboard and Ryan still played lead guitar and vocals. When he told me we had a fiddle on Sunday, I wondered if we were doing some bluegrass, but I was pleasantly surprised. The violin added some almost vocal quality to the worship. Some Sundays I just would rather we continued in music and worship. Go to the FB page for SCCC and watch, but mostly listen. It was good. I think you too will get swept into worship.

The balcony redecorating project will be finished by next Sunday. And not too soon. It gets hot to be up there this time of year. It will look awesome. We will load some photos on our FB page and perhaps I can include them in my letter next week.

Right Now Media. Is ready! SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.

Sunday If I could sum up the Sunday message it would be pursue Jesus and know the Holy Spirit. If you know Jesus, you know the Father. How do I know to say that? Because Jesus said it first as recorded in John 14:7. I don’t know why I preached for 35 minutes?

We started off with John 14:6 where Jesus is recorded as saying, “I am the way the truth and the life.” Now to a believer, we know this is true and may even be able to explain what we have discovered. The only way to heaven and the presence of the Father is via Jesus. He is the truth; as we uncovered last week when we examined John 15:26. Not some sort of philosophical truth but a truth of reality only found in this relationship. And he is the life. We get this term, ‘reborn’ or ‘born again’ because of the experience. When you accept Jesus as Savour and Lord, living and breathing takes on life.

When Jesus said, “If you know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him.” 14:7. What a wild statement to make. I think of the Jewish audience who heard this and knew the Shema as recorded in Deuteronomy 6:4. It was foundational to all their faith. In their thinking, did this statement of Jesus border blasphemy? It was a proclamation that God is one god, but Jesus was making this statement to include himself as deity with the Father. Now we can accept this but to that audience it was more amazing.

So we have started to understand, ‘Who is the Holy Spirit?” And in the exploration, we have run into the relationship of Jesus, the Father and the Holy Spirit. If anything, I think we have placed the Holy Spirit as too mystical and not relational except to empower us. And in this exploration, I would hope, that you as well as myself have realized the greater part of relationship of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The end of the matter, as I wrote earlier, I would encourage you to know God more via a pursuit of relationship with Jesus, through prayer and the scriptures. And in that listen for the Holy Spirit to lead you through the scriptures and through your thoughts. He will speak to you if you will listen.

Blessings, Pastor Chuck.  This coming Sunday, Pastor Mayra will bring a scripture message.
