It is a good Day, Fishing and boat stories. It was on the water Jesus had some interesting ministry. Jesus went out fishing with men, so in the foot steps of our Lord I think we as men, need to spend more time fishing in a boat. And some of us did just that. This was one of those fishing trips where the fish just were not interested in us achieving our goal but hey we were on the water and it was a good day.

One of the men in our church, David, loves to take people fishing. Often, I get out with him and his best friend. And often it is a ministry time. Let me point out you can organize ministry times, but always be ready for it to just happen. On this boat story, ministry just happened. This time another man was invited to come along. His name is Timmy. He and his family have been attending our church for the last several weeks and we are just getting to know them. Timmy was invited so we could visit and get to know him a bit more.

While the fish were not biting, we got talking and Timmy shared his testimony about getting electrocuted and dying and how it all turned around and now he is a missionary here. It was a great story. If you don’t know Timmy, you should. People have such great life stories. And sitting there the whole time listening to Timmy explain his story is the Mexican boat assistant. He has been on each trip with us. Vision the hired hand for a fishing boat and this would be him. We have shared Jesus with this man many times. This time he just listened to Timmy sharing his story.  I was delighted. No need for the preacher to speak, Timmy has it covered. Our Mexican man heard it all with interest. And where was he going to go anyhow?

You know we have some great people in our church. Can you name a few? How about next Sunday where ever you are, take someone new out for brunch and get to know another amazing person. Also always be ready to serve and share. And always be ready to get to know someone new. People are amazing.

Finally the balcony is finished. This week I will post some photos on the fb page and next week here on this page. We are going to have a new library bookcase up there and some new art work for the walls. Next winter, I can see it being the “preferred seating.”

Sunday, Pastor Mayra shared about trusting Jesus. I hear some good reports about her message. Her text was from Matthew 18:3, And Jesus said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.” She shared from her personal life experiences that started as a child. She shared with me one day about the many lessons she has learned about having more trust in Jesus even through adult life. It was not just a biblical message on Sunday but had some personal tones from her life.

In these times when we struggle with ‘new normal’ we find our faith tested too. So much has changed in our world and it seems like the change is not over. Can we still trust Jesus in these times? Yes! We need to look back on previous experiences with Jesus and remember that he was faithful then and still will be in this changing world. Mayra had an experience that started her history of faith in Jesus. We need to look back on those stories and continue in faith.

Blessings, Pastor Chuck.  This coming Sunday is Pentecost Sunday. We will finish the series on “Who is the Holy Spirit?”

Right Now Media. Is ready! SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.
