It is a good Day, I would like to say thank you to the men and women who carried chairs. First they took them downstairs from the balcony. Then carried them back up the stairs. They stacked chairs in the main sanctuary and then returned to unstack them and rearrange the floor plan. People painted and washed and vacuumed the never ending dust. Someone bought the lumber and someone donated the brick for our library bookcase that is retro 1968 college days! Other people climbed up into a lift and went as high up as the machine would go to clean lights and filters and make repairs to the ceiling. I imagine that was hot up there. They ran new projector cables (twice, as the first try was wrong!) And don’t forget when a cable is run for the projector, someone has to crawl down where the spiders and termites are to connect that cable to the electronic control (not me, spiders and dark and small space!)

But finally it is over. The dust has left the building. The balcony and main sanctuary are all sparkly and clean and looks like new. All set for another few years. Then maybe we will do it again!

Maintence just seems like it has to happen. We just think, good that is done and another job appears. It is our community church and we will endeavor to keep it looking and serving well. All of you who have escaped the summer temperatures here, come on back. You are missed and the ‘house’ is waiting for you and your smiling face. As pastor of SCCC I look out on Sunday morning and wish you were here and pray for your return!

Sunday, we looked into the story in Mark 9 about a youth who had seizures and was considered under demonic influence for this to happen. His father had brought him first to the disciples and then to Jesus for healing. Of course, Jesus healed him. Whatever became of this youth? Did he live the rest of his years proclaiming that he met Jesus or was he always remembered as that boy who had demon influenced seizures? I think that depends on what life he gave evidence of!

Did he live with a victory story or shame? Some people live so much in their past shame that they never envision a future. The shame of their past directs their future. They have met Jesus, received forgiveness but never grew past that place and stay in that moment, not realizing they are a brand new creation in Christ.

Shame a spiraling lack of self worth. It starts in the battle for thoughts. Often thoughts influence the feelings we have. Thoughts start and then we just follow them as if walking on a road. We don’t pay attention to where those thoughts are going. But we must control our thinking and take each though under control. Direct what you are going to think of. Stop thinking and dwelling on past shame. Some where you have heard, “You can’t control the birds that fly overhead but you can stop them from nesting in your hair.”

The challenge is to live as a person who is saved and delivered. To step away from the past and aim for the new life in Christ. Our lives should give such evidence of being in Christ that shame leaves no evidence of what took place in our ‘previous’ life. It is a challenge we can meet.

Blessings, Pastor Chuck.

Right Now Media. Is ready! SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.
