Good day church!

Mission Sunday or Mission Fest. Was this Sunday January 30. It was a huge success. There was plenty of information for people to see how they can be involved. And there was lots of food for sharing as we ate and viewed the opportunities available to serve in the local communities. Two of our missionaries shared about how they got involved in the work they do. It is worth hearing from our audio page on our website.

Sunday;  After the two missionaries shared I spoke about the misunderstanding we have about the “Great Commission” that we are so familiar with from Matthew 28:19-20. We think of the Great Commission as a call to be an evangelist or missionary. Somehow we envision someone like the late Billy Graham as the evangelist as we have to be up to that standard. Or missionaries being old ladies in long dresses or old grey-haired men in glasses and worn dark suits. Yet the evidence shown to us Sunday was that any of us can respond to the call to be sharing this great news of who Jesus is. We all have a story to tell about knowing Jesus and his great work of love to redeem us.

The mission of the church comes from the mission heart of God. The church exists for the sake of God’s mission to redeem his creation. Therefore the very nature of the church should be sending. We are not a social club. We are to be a praying, learning, center to be empowering disciples to be sent out to make disciples. We are to be replicating.

Get this quote from George E Vicedom, “The mission to the nations would be legitimate even if Jesus had not given the Great Commission, because it is part of the whole Bible.” And next Sunday we will unpack how that is true.

Blessings, Pastor Chuck. Next Sunday – “God is a Missionary”

We will be open for public worship services Sunday. STRICT regulations are being kept regarding facemasks. Service will also be LIVE on Facebook. You do not need an account. But as San Carlos is growing and it adds more demand on the available wifi service providers, it affects the upload of our video feed. If the “live” feed you are receiving is interrupted we encourage you to please return and go the page and bring up “Videos” and you will find the recorded video for each Sunday.
