Good day church!

Hey take a look at the youth project on our main street at klm marker  #9. They have laid the stone and are preparing to decorate with coloured rock and desert plants. The signage is almost finished to advertise their presence in San Carlos. It is your youth of SCCC saying, “We are here.”

Financial reports for January are available by request just send us an email to office @sancarloscommunitychurch.com

Coming up quick:

Our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). February 24, 6:00 pm at the church. There is a catered dinner at 6 pm followed by the business meeting. Come and receive reports from 2021 and hear the vision for 2022. There will be Missions, Finance, Youth, Children and Pastor’s reports will be presented, along with an affirmation time for our new deacons and elders.

Sunday

We finished exploring our two parts about missions. Had you ever explored God as a missionary? Usually we don’t. We think of missions as starting from the Great Commission of Matthew’s gospel.

But it was God who first commissioned the prophets and also sent Jesus as a witness of who God is and of his desire to redeem his creation. God is a sender. The church is and should be sending out witnesses of the works of God.

Read Isaiah 12:4-6 as just an example, and you will see that God first appointed the Hebrew people to be a witness of his redeeming acts and then the church. Those who had experienced the life and love and redemptive actions of Jesus Christ are called also into this work.

On Sunday we read the story in Luke 24 beginning at verse 13. While the story begins in Emmaus, it does finish in Jerusalem with the other eleven and Jesus says, “You are witnesses of these things.” (24:47) Both in Emmaus and in Jerusalem, Jesus explained that the story of himself is in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. It was a point he wanted to make to not just the two men but also to the eleven.

I love the statement made in Luke 24:32, “Were not our hearts burning within us …”  Shouldn’t our hearts be burning within us to talk about Jesus? How is that with you? Do you have any fire in your heart about Jesus? Are you a witness of his work in your life?

We often think that the Great Commission or such passages are instructions to be evangelists, but how about just being a witness to what you have seen and know? Just tell the story.
