Christmas & Cookies

Chuck Sheridan Avatar

It is a good Day;  It is just a little finger, but I cut it badly and deep and you realize how a little body part can limit you so much. I am so tired of reading, watching documentaries and trying to not take pills for pain. It makes me think of how a little baby born in an obscure town to an ordinary couple can have such an extraordinary global effect.

Something so small and unmuscular as my little left-hand finger is so effective to keep me in park! And taught me to type with one hand! Jesus, such a little body come into the world that a king had the massacre of untold number of babies for fear of one small one. (Matthew 2:122-20) Jesus, the center of my world. Jesus the most effective power I have! And for that I love Christmas.

From my wife and I; joy to the world and to you of SCCC, the very greatest joy of this season.

We are moving ahead with putting our worship services up on YouTube. If you go to YouTube, you will find us,   https://youtube.com/@SanCarlosCommunityChurch-bt1zw?si=4wOWLyC8LytPVxHl  click on subscribe.

The advantage to this is you can get closed captions in the language of your choice, for the previous videos on the channel. Which is a benefit to reaching out to Spanish speakers. It also gives us more advertising opportunities. People when looking for a church, will check websites, goggle etc. The presence you have on FB or YouTube gives them an opportunity to see you before they step in. This presence gives us an excellent outreach and method to spread the gospel, and further than San Carlos!

Good news Randy M is on the book for surgery, January 3 and then later they can continue for follow ups with a specialist n MX. They are very thankful for all your prayers.

Please continue to pray for Ethel D, to pray for her healing.

Coming Up:

Christmas Eve is December 24 this year! Imagine that! And it is a Sunday. We will be having our worship service at 9a.m.. The children have a short presentation they have been working on. And we have some testimonies, “What does Christmas mean to me?” Please consider bringing a friend on this special day. And it is also “Cookie Sunday.”

“Forging in the Sun” a time of fellowship and learning at Pastor Chuck’s home, of how to use a forge like a blacksmith. Everything will be supplied, just bring some lunch to share on the BBQ. December 28, 10:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Sunday, Isaiah 42 is a very interesting chapter. It tells us about a coming Messiah, but in your reading you may notice that he is sent not only to the Jews but to all nations. He is sent also to the Gentiles. This gives Israel a missionary purpose, that heir Messiah should be proclaimed to all people. He is the fulfillment of the covenant with the Jews, as a light to the nations.

This theme of the Messiah being a light to the nations continues on through Isaiah more than we may think and is then picked up by the New Testament writers. They recognize this one as Jesus, the Christ.

Eight days after the birth of Jesus to Mary, they attend the Temple in Jerusalem. According to Luke 2:29-32, there was a man there named Simeon who was waiting to see this one. Look at verse 31-21, he knows this is the one who will be “a light of revelation to the Gentiles.” He saw and he knew.

Within two years Mary and her family had a strange visit. It was a group of learned wise men who had journeyed from the east to find the King of kings. Matthew 2:1-11 records they had followed a light in the sky, identified as a star. They came to worship! These are Gentiles who came to worship! The prophesy of Isaiah was being fulfilled.

In October 1962 a song was written and then recorded by Bing Crosby, “Do you hear what I hear?” It raises me to a question, do you hear, do you see, the Saviour is born to us, the world.

Right Now Media. Is ready! SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.
