It is a good Day;  This last Monday a few of us gathered at the church to pack up the backpacks, a ministry work of Casa de Esperanza. It is very worthy effort as we chat and work together to fill these bags with the school supplies and a small gift. I am sure it is a help for the children’s learning opportunity. It didn’t take long. They are so well organized and the work goes a long very smoothly.

Two things that surprised me. The number of people who knew about the ministry and then mentioned their regret that they forgot to add it to the calendar. It is ok. I do the same, but that is why I have these reminder notes. It is a good thing I don’t have sticky notes they would be all over my laptop screen and my car windshield. Can you picture my car! To those who forgot to come, you miss some fun and a ministry opportunity. Second, is that people in our community heard about this ministry event and put together supplies and then dropped them off at the church. Later in the day, I got a call about a box of school supplies as I was heading home. I explained they could just be dropped off at my home and I’ll take care of it from there. Yeah right! I couldn’t even lift the box! The box is from others who don’t even attend our church! What a marvelous community!

We are moving ahead with putting our worship services up on YouTube. If you go to YouTube, you will find us, but so far these are past services. We need at least fifty subscribers to be “live” on our own channel. Here is the link.

The advantage to this is you can get closed captions in the language of your choice, for the previous videos on the channel. Which is a benefit to reaching out to Spanish speakers. It also gives us more advertising opportunities. People when looking for a church, will check websites, goggle etc. The presence you have on FB or YouTube gives them an opportunity to see you before they step in. Think of it this way, when last did you use the Yellow Pages or buy a newspaper to research for a company, business or church? I am surprised how many people will tell me at the farmer’s market that they watch our services online. This presence gives us an excellent outreach and method to spread the gospel, and further than San Carlos!

Good news Randy M is on the book for surgery, January 3 and then later they can continue for follow ups with a specialist n MX. They are very thankful for all your prayers.

Please continue to pray for Ethel D, to pray for her healing. Pray for Jamie, Kathy S.’s son had a stroke recently.

Coming Up:

Christmas Eve is December 24 this year! Imagine that! And it is a Sunday. We will be having our worship service at 9a.m.. The children have a short presentation they have been working on. And we have some testimonies, “What does Christmas mean to me?” Please consider bringing a friend on this special day.

“Forging in the Sun” a time of fellowship and learning at Pastor Chuck’s home, of how to use a forge like a blacksmith. Everything will be supplied, just bring some lunch to share on the BBQ. December 28, 10:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Sunday, We began the message with a reading from Luke 2:1-20. The message Sunday was “To us a child is born.” It is from the book of Isaiah 9:6 and quoted in Luke 2:11, which is probably more familiar to you. Isaiah 9 gives us four titles for this child who will be the saviour, Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. We looked briefly at these four titles.

There are two challenges to this. First is to realize the Old Testament is a mirror of the New Testament. We often read the New Testament and don’t see that it is such a reality of the Old Testament come into action. The apostles and writers made the connections quickly. They realized Jesus was prophesy fulfilled. We don’t. No, not really. We are told he is, often because we don’t know the Old Testament. What this should say to us is we need to read the Bible in mind that the book is a complete revelation of who Jesus is.

Second, we should look at these four titles given in Isaiah and see how we can apply these to our personal lives? For example; “Prince of Peace” is he that in my life? How am I letting him bring peace into my life and them, am I giving out peace from my life as a product of his presence? The challenge for these four titles is to explore how these are true of Jesus and then ask how are they affecting my life?

Right Now Media. Is ready! SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.
