Good morning Church, It is hard to think of anything else other than the passing of Becki Burr early last Sunday morning. She passed away without pain and peacefully in the arms of her husband Bob. A testimony of their love was her nursing him to health and then seeing him only days later after his recovery holding her for hours while she slowly slipped away.

She had the time to say good bye to Bob and to some of her family via telephone. She told us she was ready and she knew the Lord Jesus was waiting for her. We can all imagine her singing with angels and them trying to keep up.

I watched as Ely was attending to her. She was beside her holding a phone playing a worship song off some music media, and Becki was mouthing the words as she sang along. She went to the Lord in worship.

Bob and the family want to wait until sometime in November to have a memorial service for her. It will be available for viewing on our Facebook page and we will announce when.

It has been a difficult season for many people, watching so many in our communities pass away. And when you look at world events you just shudder. But I will make a choice to look at God. In passing, that is what Becki did! Some of my first thoughts that night were reflecting on 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 and the words, “about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do those who have no hope.” I do not have some wishy for Christmas type of hope; what I possess is an abiding assurance of meeting the Lord and those who have ‘fallen asleep.’

In other news;

My wife and I went back to church this Sunday. We had been away long enough. We wanted to see everyone and be in church. What sold us on San Carlos was the warmth of the congregation of SCCC. For the first time since we left our former position, we felt like we had landed. We felt in the spirit like we were home. So, four Sundays away was just too much. We wanted to attend and worship with our church.

I met a young man on Sunday. He was visiting from California. Some of us went for brunch after service and he started to tell me that his host had told him about this great church. He said it was true that the church was all the good things he had been told. He spoke about the spirit present and the friendliness of the church. Yeah SCCC, you are doing it, when we get reports like that!

And the teaching these last four weeks has been excellent. Did you hear and see Ryan T this week? Well you should! His message Sunday was about ‘citizenship.’  Our citizenship is in heaven! In light of present politics, that is very good! He challenged us about where is your allegiance? To what leader, to what country, to what god? The ancients of Jesus day had to swear allegiance to Rome and the present emperor. To place your allegiance with any other was a threat to your life.

I choose to place my life, my trust, my hope, my allegiance in Jesus Christ and my citizenship is in heaven. Will you join me?

Blessings, Pastor Chuck. Pray more, trust and don’t give up.

We will be open for public worship services this Sunday. STRICT regulations are being kept regarding facemasks, and hand sanitizer. Service will also be LIVE on Facebook. You do not need an account. But as San Carlos is growing and it adds more demand on the available wifi service providers, it affects the upload of our video feed. If the “live” feed you are receiving is interrupted we encourage you to please return and go the page and bring up “Videos” and you will find the recorded video for each Sunday.
