It is a good Day; Time to get together and share life stories. This Thursday at the SCCC is the monthly potluck dinner at 5:30. Will I see you there? It is always a good visit. Bring a guest. Bring some dinner, or side dish, or soda, or perhaps a dessert to share and let’s enjoy the fellowship we share! For us, it will be great to be HOME with you.

Also coming up on is Monday Night at the Movies. It if a movie based on a true story, “Breakthrough.” We are told to bring a box of kleenex as it is a “tear jerker.” I do not know how that will go with the free popcorn. Hey remember to thank Scott and Kelly for making the popcorn and cleaning up that machine each time! It is a lot of work.

This coming Sunday we will have baptisms. It is always a guess what the ocean will be like! I interviewed Rhonda a few weeks ago and heard her story of coming to SC and finding SCCC. Her story of how she came to know the Lord and discover how the Lord has been so faithful to her in a world where faithful is a forgotten practice. Also, Pastor Mayra and I are interviewing two others for baptism this Sunday. It is so exciting to have people show this sign of their commitment to Jesus. So, join us Sunday for this event and watch on our FB page for photos.

We should thank our deacon board for the way our property looks. After all the storms and rain, we should be grateful for the upkeep they have kept on the property. Also, let’s thank them for the improvements they have overseen!

Lynn and I had a fabulous trip. The weather got a little cool. The leaves in Manitoba are changing colour already and there was a constant haze in the sky from the forest fires. We had so many people to visit and so many ministry opportunities. It was a time of healing, restoration and getting reacquainted. I was surprised how many of our friends in MB follow SCCC online! Now that it is time to go back to work and rest, I will enjoy the really warm weather and smiling faces of SC!

Sunday, that was a good message Pastor Mayra shared this past Sunday. She shared from personal experiences that if we are not careful, our emotions can lead us into some bad decisions. Her personal experience was trying to avoid soda pop but then she gets thirsty and when not guarded she has a soda.

She related to us that too often we all let our emotions and desires take us in directions we really don’t want to go. So we make an excuse for putting it off until tomorrow! Maybe exercise or saving money or starting a diet. Too often emotions get in the way and we make wrong decisions.

She spoke from Proverbs 16:32, about ruling and controlling yourself in behaviour and emotions. We need to prepare ourselves for adversity and then in that place of expectation we should be able to control our emotions. Such a man is illustrated in 1 Samuel 25. The story of David who came through the land and sought hospitality from Nabal. A mean and bad tempered man. When he heard of David’s expectation he went int o a rage and made oaths and mocked David. The poor messenger had to return to David with the bad news. David was in the place and in mind to go in and give Nabal a lesson he would not forget. But Nabal’s wife was Abigail. She heard about this and intervened. She sent out food, wine and bread to David and his men. David accepted and reigned in his temper. David gained control of his temper and emotions while Nabal was incapable of such control. Decisions based on feelings and emotions have lead many people into trouble.

Thank you Pastor Mayra for reminding us. Perhaps this pastor should bring the Word more often?

Blessings, Chuck. Next week, I will be speaking about “Who am I or who I am?”

Right Now Media. Is ready! SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.
