Today Is The Day

We have an exciting year coming up in 2024. Some changes to our building to continue to meet the demands. And a couple of new events to serve the people. Through this winter we will have various missions and missionaries share about their work, and at the end of January is Missionfest. A chance to meet them all and hear about their ministry. Missionfest is like an expo if that word helps? Put Sunday January 28 on your calendar.

Then on February Saturday 3, is the Benevolence Bazars at the church. It is high end home crafted products with all funds going to support the Benevolence Fund. It is amazing to see the talents our people have and their expressions, then donated to help our local community.

Good news Randy M is on the book for surgery, today January 3 and then later they can continue for follow ups with a specialist in MX. They are very thankful for all your prayers. Please continue to pray for Ethel D, to pray for her healing.

“Forging in the Sun” was a great time. I had some excellent help from Bill, Matt and Steve. I certainly could not have done this day on my own. Several showed up and three people learned a lot. The value of the day was that people got to meet and know each other in a different venue then church. Friendships were forged in the son. Yes that was a cheap play on words.

Also our worship services are now available “live” on YouTube. We now have enough subscribers for this program to be on live. We encourage you to subscribe and “Like” our channel, as it pushes the visibility of our channel up.

Sunday, Now we are into 2024. What events wait for us? I spoke this past Sunday from Joshua 1:6-9. Moses is gone, and the leadership falls to Joshua. He has the Jordon River in front of him and Jericho is just there across that river. He has to enter the Promised Land just like we enter a new year, not really knowing what may be, but trusting in the promises of God.

As I read the passage I read that three times Joshua is told to be strong and courageous. He is also told not to be afraid and not to be discouraged. I suggest that God told him this because he was looking fearful, discouraged, and not as bold as he had been under Moses’ leadership. Now it all falls to him. He must lead these million plus people with courage, and strength, and confidence.

I think that could be the instruction for us at SCCC as a church. As we face the new challenges of growth and new plans for ourselves we need to be strong, courageous and bold. Also, for each of us individually, we need to be like that. But not of ourselves. Verse nine says, “Have I not commanded you?” So God made it a command to be strong and courageous, not fearful and discouraged about our future, we have God with us!

What does 2024 have for us? We do not know that. The world is so uncertain in this time. Our health is so good one day and seemingly doomed the next! But we are certain of God!

Right Now Media. Is ready!

SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity. This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.
