Facts Connected to Conduct

The great truth about Christianity is that it is so much more than head knowledge.   The Apostle Paul encourages the Colossian believers to:

“reach all the riches of full assurance of understanding and the knowledge of God’s mystery, which is Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”   Colossians 2:2-3

What are we to reach?  “The riches of full assurance of understanding.”  The word “understanding” simply means facts connected to conduct.  Our faith must be lived out in our conduct, how we love people.  There is no room in the Church of Jesus Christ for just tolerating – we must love deeply and sincerely, because Christ first loved us.

When we connect our understanding of Christ (facts) with our daily living (conduct) God will reveal more and more of the mystery of Christ  – “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.”

The bottom line is – it is not enough to have knowledge of Jesus, we must that knowledge out in everyday life.
