Hello SCCC Family,

Yes, something a little different as we enter the New Year.  I’d like to send just a brief (really pastor – brief?) weekly update to you, our church family.  I’d like to include some personal thoughts, some church highlights and some ministry events which are going on around our church.  It will likely evolve over the coming weeks.  I do welcome your feedback by clicking “reply” to this email or at  pastorglenn.sc@gmail.com.  Most of all, I do hope it’s an encouraging piece of communication for each of you!

On the church front:

1.  Children’s Church:   Mayra Gonzalez joined us last Sunday as our new Children’s Ministry Director.  She comes with a wealth of skill sets, including being bilingual, 3 years of Christian Education in Dallas, working with children, leading worship, and computer skills.  She has a great heritage and a passion for ministry.  Her initial key role is to develop the Children’s Church Ministry.  She has great vision for this and I trust you will take the time to pray for and to encourage her in this role!

2.  “The Edifice”:   (Chuck’s tongue-in-cheek name for the new church building)  It will be exciting next Sunday, as we conclude the service, when we move outdoors into the area that our new church building will occupy.  We plan to participate in a prayer of dedication, offer an appreciation for all that Ronnie, Ray and the Building Committee have put in place for us and finally to turn the first spade full of dirt.   You don’t want to miss this day!

3.  “Guests:” Not only do we have regulars coming back from the North (welcome back), but we’ve also had a number of local guests over the last few weeks.  Can I encourage you as regulars to say hello to guests, encourage them with a warm welcome and an appreciation for their attendance.

4.  Messages:   Beginning next Sunday, I hope to begin a series from the book of Nehemiah.  He is such an inspiration when you consider how the Israelites had been attempting to rebuild the walls for over 20 years and God brings Nehemiah into the picture and 52 days later, the walls are complete.  There are a number of things the Lord reveals to Nehemiah as this seemingly endless process of wall building finally comes to fruition.  I pray you will be encouraged as we seek for God’s wisdom in this amazing book.  Read ahead and let’s see what we can learn as we explore this book together.

On the home front:
Two of our children and their families have returned home.  The other two leave this Saturday.  We have been so blessed to enjoy their company and to build memories together.  From a genuine, home cooked Mexican dinner, to a day in the desert, to exploring in Guaymas and Empalme, to having them with us for the last service of the year – it was a real treat and we feel so blessed.  For you “face book” people there are some great pictures on my home page!

You folks have been so gracious to us since we arrived in SC and on behalf of Jeannine and I, we want to thank each of you for the encouragement, the gifts, the acts of kindness and most importantly, your prayers as we’ve become a part of the SCCC family.

We covet your prayers as we continue to seek for God’s wisdom, purpose and desire for you, our church family!

Pastor Glenn & Jeannine
