Good stories and reports

It is a good Day, Hello!

We really need your picture! This summer our highly skilled tecky persons are producing a new website. And as we look at the present page we can see that our photo directory is rather out of date. First some of those photos don’t match the present reality. Also we have people who are new enough that they have not been put in the directory. We understand some people don’t want to be in the photo directory, that is ok too but it does help with the who is who.

To be more accurate, as my hair has greyed more, Lynn and I even had our photo retaken. So to get more recent photos each Sunday there is an opportunity to get a more up to date photo. You can participate, please, over at the side of the sanctuary just about where the stairs are to keyboard and platform.

Another AGM. We had a great dinner of salad, beans, pulled pork and pies for desert. Then we went on to the church sanctuary for some reports. 50 people attended the meeting. It went smooth and we heard some good reports. Next year we must focus on those good stories and reports! The church finished the year financial in the black. And the reports and stories tell us that we are doing as a church should, reaching our community around us with helps and compassion.

Baptism; a couple of people are interested in being baptized. We have a pool available to us. If you have not been baptized as a believer and this interests you, please let Pastor Chuck or Pastor Mayra know. We want to set aside Sunday April 17, which is Easter Sunday, and we have a lesson to go through with you before you are baptized.

Sunday; Poor Thomas. He just didn’t get a good deal from us. He made a mistake and now we have a label on him. We call him, “Doubting Thomas.” John 20 has the story. Why are we so stuck on this? Maybe he was in a really bad place after Jesus was crucified? I bet I would have been in a ‘bad place’ and, perhaps feeling disillusioned or he fell out of relationship with the others and just needed to get away to think it out for a while.

But if there is anything I can learn from this lesson is that Jesus came back for Thomas. Eight days after the resurrection and when Jesus first revealed himself to Mary and the other ten men, Jesus went back for Thomas! Amazing Jesus, he returned for a doubter. I think that is good news.

There have been times when my faith wasn’t so paramount an example either, and when I see what Jesus did, I can be reassured that Jesus would do the same for me.
He would come back for me when my faith is not such a good example and gently correct me.

Then John 20 applauds us for having faith when we did not get to handle, touch and see the resurrected Jesus! But we had faith to believe. Jesus called us ‘blessed’ for our faith when we did not have what the apostles and first century believers had.

So I am double blessed. I believe and Jesus calls me blessed for my faith and I am blessed, because in those days of low faith, Jesus would still come back to restore me! Where are you at?

Blessings, Pastor Chuck. Next Sunday we celebrate the Lord’s Table and are going to take a deeper look at just what we are celebrating. The Life is in the Blood.
