Light In the Darkness

Christmas is almost here and with it the reminder of why we celebrate this particular holiday.  The prophet Isaiah foretold the coming of Jesus Christ in Isaiah 9:

“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined.  For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

We all need the Light.  Of course we understand that light to be Jesus Christ, the Savior born in Bethlehem, born in a manger.  He came to cause darkness to flee – the darkness of sin in our lives.   He will shine light, as Savior, into your soul when you bow humbly before him.  He came to bring you good news of great joy.  His purpose is to restore you to a right fellowship with God.

Light is really a beautiful thing.  The glory of the Lord shone around the Shepherds in the field that night announcing Christ’s birth.  It was the light of the Star that the Wisemen followed in order to find the Christ child.  John the Baptist bore witness about the light, that all might believe and follow Jesus, the light of the world.

Darkness has no place where the True Light resides.  Does He reside in you?  Step out of the darkness and come fully into the light!  Fall in love with Jesus Christ.
