Have a great day! According to facebook on Sunday while we send out the “live” service and our viewers are not a great number but it is fairly consistent. Then by Monday evening that number has doubled in viewers. People write in and tell us the upload is slow and there are so many interruptions. I agree it is frustrating to watch. It is really hard to sing along when the high note is paused and you try to hold that note! I have struggled with it too. There is a secret for a solution.

From the technical end of the church there is little that can be done. My wifi at home slows down on the weekends too. So many users in town. We can’t do anymore about the uploading of the video. Here is the secret, watch the service later. The viewers double in the next 36 hours as people will log onto our page an hour of two later and watch the service. We do appreciate the “hello from Iceland” etc that people put in as comments. Thank you for connecting.

People write in and some send emails in saying how much they appreciate the service we provide. And we are glad to offer it. But until we have our own television station (LOL!) this is what we have. Stay with us.

Officially I am not suppose to be here, maybe you know what I mean, or ask me later. But after four Sundays away we just wanted to be back in the church. I wanted to speak to the congregation some encouragement. And we really missed the fellowship. In the last couple of weeks, I made an observation, church service is over and I hurry to the door to greet people as they leave. I stand there with my mask on, outside of the pleasures of a.c. and very few come out. Are they sneaking out the back door? No, they are standing about, oh yes wearing masks, and visiting. They are happy to see each other and just visit. That is sweet family. That is why Lynn and I returned and why many others keep coming back to SCCC!

So I have a ‘far side’ idea. Cookie Sunday with a cake for the most imaginative, regulation of course, mask! It is hard enough figuring out who some people are with their masks on. This would put everyone to laughing! But it probably won’t happen. Just one of my ideas.

Let me tell you about love. This past Sunday a man came to church who often does yard work at the church and my home. Many of the church know him. Howard D has been checking in on him. He recently lost some toes in surgery. I mentioned his need of a better diet and that our food cupboard is low on healthy products. After service a lady came to me and offered to buy his fruits and vegetables for October if I could arrange something. You see that is first century church. Someone in our midst has a need and one steps in to help here and another to help there.

With the passing of Becki, another couple were observing how many of SCCC community stepped in to help Bob. They were so impressed that they came to church Sunday. Becki would be so happy. She often mentioned them to me. A great couple who have now witnessed Christ with skin on. Yeah church!

Bob B. has a daughter and grandson visiting him for a week. Bob is doing well. Please pray for him. I have written back and forth with Marcos family, they are at a loss with the passing of their son. I cannot imagine. Keep them in prayer.

Ryan T. spoke Sunday again about our citizenship is in heaven. But he didn’t repeat what he said, he built on the previous Sunday message. He reminded us that our citizenship is in heaven. Here we are only on temporary visas. Our ‘true’ passport should reveal a citizenship in a more glorious land. Then he challenged us to matters of culture. For example, every one knows about “Timmies” if you really are Canadian! Canadian culture is different. Mexican culture is different. And our Christian culture should be very different. And it is. I have seen this in the last few weeks at SCCC.

The culture of the world often uses everyone else so that you can get to the top. But Christian culture should be promoting others to the top. Ryan quoted Philippians 2:3-5. “Instead of being motivated by selfish ambition or vanity, each of you should, in humility, be moved to treat one another as more important than yourself. Each of you should be concerned not only about your own interests, but about the interests of others as well. You should have the same attitude toward one another that Christ Jesus had”

As a vocational pastor, I am impressed with the quality of teaching we have had this season at SCCC. Go team! To date we have had Ryan, Mark, Mayra and Denver. What a fabulous church. Come and join us!

Blessings, Pastor Chuck. Next Sunday, you can expect to be challenged by Denver Janz. Once again, it will be a good time of learning from the Word of God.

In other news:

We will be open for public worship services Sunday. STRICT regulations are being kept regarding facemasks, and hand sanitizer. Service will also be LIVE on Facebook. You do not need an account. But as San Carlos is growing and it adds more demand on the available wifi service providers, it affects the upload of our video feed. If the “live” feed you are receiving is interrupted we encourage you to please return and go the page and bring up “Videos” and you will find the recorded video for each Sunday.
