Good day church!

Each Sunday we have visitors. Some are only here for a few weeks. Some come in for the month or two. I sure like visitors. So many unique and different people. Such variety! It just proves the wonder of God that he made each person so different. And the stories that some people have is really the best about hearing them. Each Sunday after church we try to take someone different out for brunch and learn a bit about them. It brings me to an idea. Each Sunday, why don’t we all do that? Take someone out for brunch. Get to know the wonder of God’s creation in the other people. There are other days in the week to meet the best friends and regular people, but Sunday, take someone new out for brunch. It might be the blessing you didn’t expect!

Hey take a look at the youth project on our main street at klm marker  #9. They have laid the stone and are preparing to decorate with coloured rock and desert plants. The signage is almost finished to advertise their presence in San Carlos. It is your youth of SCCC saying, “We are here.”

If you have any colourful colours of paint left around, the youth could use them for painting rocks. They are also accepting desert plants that they will put in at their display. Please talk to one of the pastors about arrangements.

Coming up quick:

Our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). February 24, 6:00 pm at the church. There is a catered dinner at 6 pm followed by the business meeting. Come and receive reports from 2021 and hear the vision for 2022. There will be Missions, Finance, Youth, Children and Pastor’s reports will be presented, along with an affirmation time for our new deacons and elders.

Sunday. Not being judgmental is difficult. We tend to be quick to judge and then regret doing so. It has taken discipline to not be that way. Yet sometimes I still do! I wondered about Saul who we later know as Paul the Apostle. He was a strict Jew who judged anyone with religious views not the same as his as wrong. It was simple, his views were right and if you differed, you were wrong. Then Jesus met him on the road to Damascus and everything changed. I wonder if Paul still struggled with being judgmental?

Sometimes we do when we encounter people in need. We analyze their need and why it exists and then make a judgement about them and their failures and if they just did things the right way and lived right then they wouldn’t be in their problem. Who are we to judge?

I am so glad my mother wasn’t judgmental about me when I came home all bruised up after trying to be a stunt man. She just loved me and bandaged me up, kiss me and told me not to try that again. Or how many doctor visits has there been? I was never refused treatment because of my own stupidity. No, they just did the necessary repairs and took my money! But I never felt judged, just a little stupid.

I heard it said and I don’t know who to credit. The purpose of the church is to absorb the sins of the community. Think about it. Jesus absorbed our sins and took on the cost himself. Shouldn’t we do the same?
