It is a good Day, Hello!

Have you ever watched those videos, “People are Amazing” and see the truly amazing stunts some people are capable of doing! They are not just athletic, they are super human by my standards. Have you ever attended a funeral and learn about a person and wished you had known them better? Then you realize there was more to that person than you thought and you missed out on knowing their story.

Well SCCC, you are amazing. The response you made to our empty foodbank has been more than excellent. Several people came with boxes of groceries and the cupboard is full. Thank you.

What else is amazing is just hearing the stories of some of you. There is so much variety amongst us. You just have to explore a little bit more and talk to someone and learn the stories of who they are and it all comes out. SCCC is full of the most amazing people.

So I propose this coming Sunday which is “Cookie Sunday” you bring cookies, eat cookies, but also step aside and talk to someone you do not know so well. And just take the time to hear their story. Find out about the other people that are here and learn about the wonderful creation God has made in that other person.

Coming up quick:

Our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). February 24, 6:00 pm at the church. There is a catered dinner at 6 pm followed by the business meeting. Come and receive reports from 2021 and hear the vision for 2022. There will be Missions, Finance, Youth, Children and Pastor’s reports will be presented, along with an affirmation time for our new deacons and elders.

Baptism; a couple of people are interested in being baptized. We have a pool available to us. If you have not been baptized as a believer and this interests you, please let Pastor Chuck or Pastor Mayra know. We want to set a Sunday in March and we have a lesson to go through with you before you are baptized.

Sunday;  In Dec 2021, tornadoes struck 4 neighbouring states during the night. The damages by the Quad State Tornadoes was extensive and 88 people died. No one was prepared.

We try to prepare for the events in our lives but some come when we don’t expect. You would think we wouldn’t be surprised anymore but we are. And so it will be when Christ returns. We think we are ready and then we may be surprised that we are not.

The parable in Matthew 25 is about ten virgins who were waiting for a wedding. Five were prepared for a wedding that could happen at anytime, and five who just weren’t prepared enough. Oh, they were prepared but when the groom and the wedding was delayed, then they were not ready.

When we first learn of the return of Christ we get all ready and expectant. But after decades of waiting and seeing the affairs of the world continuing as they do, we can be thinking that nothing is going to happen. Jesus is delayed and maybe won’t come for a long time yet. There lies the trap. We start to live as if Christ’s return and judgment day just isn’t going to happen to soon. We get lazy and slack. We run out of oil. Our light doesn’t shine like before.

I must be on guard and not let that happen.
