It is a good Day, Hello!

And the work has begun. The people carried all the chairs down from the balcony on Sunday. Some of the electrical work up there has begun and then the finishing of those walls, and then paint. It seems a little early to close the balcony, but we needed to get on this before the warm (hot) weather comes.
If you are concerned about where you will sit, we now have 205 chairs in the main sanctuary. And our attendance has been 160 and less, so there is lots of room, especially in the front row! I like the front row myself!

By June that balcony will be stunning. All finished and presentable for the next season.

Hey I want to tell you that coming up this Thursday 23 at 6 p.m. we have a movie at the church. It is a romance/adventure story, of two Jews who were atheists, but come to know Jesus as Saviour and Lord, and then survive the invasion of the Nazi army into their homeland. The biggest part of this story that I found in the story was the power of love and secondly, if you think you are a strong Christian, this video will challenge your faith. Come join us.  (1) In Theaters Now | Sabina: Tortured for Christ, the Nazi Years | Official Trailer – YouTube

Easter is coming up. Good Friday is April 15. Here in Mexico many of the people celebrate with parties and excessive late night drinking. The town of San Carlos has the capacity to fill up with beach goeres and all night parties. In the last two years the police have controlled this to an almost non event.  But some us suspect that this year with less restrictions that there will be a lot of partiers here for the weekend.

I have been praying about what to do to reach the people during this Easter event. Now I have 20 cases of a book in Spanish. The book is called, “Historias de la Vida Real.”  I think even as an English speaker you can figure out that title. They are filled with testimonies of people who came to Jesus. It seems provisional. I have an idea and will continue to watch and pray and see if the opportunity presents itself. The idea is to take cases of bottled water and put inside these books a short leaflet about the church and the love of God and go to the main street and pass out these books and a bottle of water with an invitation to visit the church on Easter Sunday. Pray with me as I continue to see how God may unfold this opportunity.

Baptism; a couple of people are interested in being baptized. We have a pool available to us. Or we may chill out for Jesus in the ocean! If you have not been baptized as a believer and this interests you, please let Pastor Chuck or Pastor Mayra know. We want to set aside Sunday April 17, which is Easter Sunday, and we have a lesson to go through with you before you are baptized.

Sunday; Usually when we mention John 4 and the of the woman at the well, everyone thinks it is about evangelism. I have heard that sermon so often. But in that story there is a text that really brought me a question. It was John 4:34, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” The disciples had returned with all the food for a meal and here Jesus has no appetite to eat. They are puzzled and this is his reply.
It made me think about appetites. His appetite was to do the will of his Father. And our driving appetite should be to do the will of Jesus and see the work completed. But we get so distracted. We want to satisfy all kinds of needs that we have and they really can be controlling! It takes some discipline or soon the satisfaction of appetites take over.

My question then is, “What do I have an appetite for?” I need to do better than a dog or a cave man in pursuits and desires. I need to be the master of my body and pursue Jesus and what he wants of my life. In doing so, I will discover the will of God for my life, but first I need to be willing to live a deeper life with the Lord and then bring my appetites into control so that I can pursue Jesus.

Here is my challenge, to discover what is my driving appetite? Upon that discovery, will I bring it into subjection. Then in that position, will I pursue Jesus for a deeper life with God?
