Good Morning SCCC Family,

* What a weekend at SCCC – What an amazing day as 46 couples engaged each other in the Marriage conference at the church yesterday. Dave and Donalyn Currie’s insights reached into each of our hearts and allowed us an opportunity to tweak the places where we may have grown too accustomed to the situation, but now were given a tool to review where we were at and then a means to move forward. In some areas, it was a confirmation that things were on track in their marriages and for yet others, there was an “aha” moment where people genuinely said, I’d never thought about such an option. From all I saw, it was “ministry at its finest” to our church family.

* So many thank you’s are in order. Firstly Maris and her amazing team who were preparing the meal several days in advance at her home, to Ethel for some delicious desserts, to the whole gang who serve the almost 100 attendees during the lunch break, to the people who set up both sanctuaries with such elegance and making it so comfortable to be in. Our new sanctuary served us so well for this event. And with all the help on Sunday, the main sanctuary was set up in just minutes. Talk about a team effort. Thank you to each of you.

* Dr. Dave’s presentation to the Elders, Deacons and families on Saturday gave us great insight into having a cohesive vision for the church and then he continued his teaching with a session on moving forward in unity with the vision God gives us.

* His message on Sunday – How do we pass our faith on to the next generation was filled with practical insights on living out our lives with a genuine faith and when we do so, the impact is huge – the message in a nutshell was “five points on how to do life and one point on giving instruction.” So real that each of us were moved by the words he shared. Listen to the message in its entirety on our church website.

* Well good news – Pastor Dave is back this Sunday with his message “Unstuck”. How do you get going again when you’ve gotten stuck in life? Have you ever felt stuck with no options to move ahead or no idea how to move forward? This may be just for you – this Sunday at 9am.

* Please allow me to give formal notice of our upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM). February 23, 6:30pm at the church. It will be a dessert evening with reports from 2016 and a look at the vision for 2017. Missions, Finance, Youth, Children and Pastor’s reports will be presented, along with an affirmation time for our new deacons. Terry Cummins and Chuck Morton have gone through the interview process and are allowing their names to stand for affirmation and Grant Dafoe has agreed to allow his name to stand for a second term. Any questions regarding their potential service must be directed in writing to an elder prior to February 9, 2017. We are also grateful for those who considered the nominations given them, but who felt that this was not the right timing for their lives and prayerfully said, “no to this call at this time.” Thank you for your prayerful consideration of the deacon role.

* Although we were not able to attend, we rejoice with Devon and Marisol Kehler, who celebrated the Dedication / Grand Opening service of “Belen Casa de Pan” last weekend. They have a great plant which will serve them well in their continuing ministry expansion. Great pics on facebook of their event.

* Please be praying for Thonda Oliver’s family as their son in law, Patrick deals with stomach cancer. He’s had an initial surgery. They are a young family with a 6 week old baby. Would you join Thonda in her prayers for her children, Patrick and Carrie. They live in Irvine, CA.

* Please continue to pray for John & Deirdre New – John is doing much better with the congestion, but still has a few more tests this week to determine their next steps. Please keep praying for a complete healing for John and for strength for Deirdre on this journey.

* Sheralyn, Jeff and little Ricky are back and were in church on Sunday. Her surgery appears to have gone well and her leg/ankle/foot are healing well. We look forward to the day when she will once again be able to stand on it.

That’s it for today. Hope you all have a great week with Jesus,
Pastor Glenn y Jeannine
