Good Day to You, well Sunday we had a problem. Not enough translation devices! We had such a mix of English and Spanish speakers that perhaps the English speakers were outnumbered. I love it! Now one family was a group of six on vacation, and another was a family of six who speak no English and come each week, but still! So, what we did was asked some people to share their translation device by only using one ear bud and just sit closer together. Problem solved. Isn’t that perfect. Unity in Diversity, chapter 15 of Romans in action.
After worship service was over it was to the outside patio for Cookie Sunday. Myself I stand at the door and chat with people going in and out. It really helps with my slim waistline to avoid the cookie table. But then Eva rolls the cart past me to return to the kitchen and I just gave into lust of the flesh and had three cookies. Oh Lord forgive me, I was weak in the face of temptation, but everyone else was doing it. Now don’t judge me for my spree of three cookies. For you it may not be a sin and for another three cookies in one mouthful is a sin. Please accept me when I am weak in a matter of faith. Let’s live in unity around the cookie tray!
Hey now here is something. Next Sunday, Pastor Mayra is speaking from Romans on “Grace.” She is asking us to be gracious towards her on Sunday. Keep her in prayer this week as she prepares her message from what the Lord is planting in her heart.
God bless you church, far and near. Pastor Chuck

Sermon Review The Mirror of Righteousness Romans 12-16
Chapter 12 Our Service.
Did you ever consider that our bodies and our actions are to reflect the righteousness of God? First in our own body as a sanctified vessel of worship and then to our church community. The chapter hinges on 12:10. I like the way one translation says, “out do one another in love.” If only we will practice that. If we operated in our gifts in humility and treated each other as part of the body, oh how the darkness would tremble. 12:9-21give us 22 commands that are so practical on how to do this.
Chapter 13 Righteousness in the Market Place
A brief chapter with world impact abilities. I think it is summed up in this verse, 14 But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh in regard to its lusts. NASV If we could reflect the righteousness of God in the marketplace, the everyday places of business that we are about, wouldn’t that have an impact on the world’s economy!? We are called to be reflections of him. To put on Christ as we love our neighbours. While chapter 12 was in our church community, this chapter is about our ‘world’ community. Note that verse 9 is a quote from Leviticus 19:18.
Chapter 14 Pursue Unity
If chapter 12 was our service to one another and 13 was our service in the marketplace, then chapter 14 is like our service and love in the church business! All to reflect God, like a mirror of his righteousness!
We are challenge in our acceptance of one another v. 1 How we can accomplish this is to live for the Lord, as instructed in v. 8. Sometimes that means we just need to lay some things down. It may be our lives, yes, but often to live for the Lord is easier than to let our opinions, die for the Lord. We just at times need to let our opinions about what we think is right die, instead of judging another brother. Hard to do. Verse 20 is right on target with this! We are to pursue peace with one another.
Chapter 15 Live in one Accord
The Prayer of Paul for the church to live and be of the same mind is in v. 5-6. Then in v.8-12 he writes, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, of our Unity in Diversity. The church in Rome was both Gentiles and Jews in one house. Very diverse. And to illustrate this he uses a Hebrew literary style is used to emphasis the point. But you will have listen to the audio. I won’t go into that here. Finally, in verse 13 there appears to be a closing benediction. But I would say it is his prayer for the church.
Chapter 16:25-27 Benediction
Now this really is his benediction for the church. Yes, a prayer. Wow I just love these words! Again Romans 1:16 comes into play. Our Service (1) to one another and (2) to the world (marketplace) show that we are mirrors of our Lord’s Righteousness. We prove to be his offspring, purchased by the blood of Christ. Our righteousness should be a proof of His righteousness. We are called to be a light to the world. Not a light of our own making, but a light of his reflected glory! Matt. 5:14
