Good Morning to you all,
Happy Birthday to Sue Marston – yesterday was her 80th birthday and it was a wonderful treat for us, along with some friends to spend some time celebrating her special day. We wish you all the best in the years to come! While there, Morgan and Thelma shared with us that they have now been married for 63 years. Inspirational people to spend time with. It was good to be with all of them.
Chuck and Lynn are now true San Carlosians – Congratulations guys! Yes, there is no doubt in my mind now. They attended and stayed at Sunday’s “Cow Plop Bingo” even spending the afternoon with some strangers (now friends) while waiting for these bovines to deliver what would result in a “huge win” for the person holding the tickets to the matching square. Way to go, Chuck and Lynn!
Mark Mulligan is coming back for an inspirational, fun filled evening of favorite songs on Jan 20 @ SCCC @ 6:00pm. Great event to bring a friend to who may not attend church yet. Invite them to enjoy this inspirational evening in a friendly environment and in the company on a friendly community. It might be the start of a brand new journey for your guests, perhaps even one of discovering Jesus.  Admission is by donation and our goal is to replenish a whole bunch of funding for our Benevolence Fund.
Answered prayers – a number of prayers were shared with us on Sunday – three of which I already know were answered in the affirmative. Yea, God!!! Eloise is back home from Hermosillo, Dolly was back at church after a nasty fall and Barbara Montoya didn’t need a pacemaker replacement after all. All is good with these folks.
Please continue to pray for David Parsons, who is doing much better, but is still recovering at home. Wayne Beitelspacher’s brother was recently diagnosed with cancer. We also found our last evening that Becky’s sister has now been moved to Hospice. These folks covet our prayers and our prayers are making a difference. Be encouraged! For further info or to add your requests to the list, go to our church website and click on PRAYER ICON.
Its about Money” was Sunday’s talk. The message in essence was a message about trust and growing to that next level of trust as we live in obedience to the Lord. The challenge many of us face is allowing Jesus to have full lordship of our lives. It can be different areas of our lives, but Jesus drills down into the one that most often keeps us from giving ourselves completely to Him.  Rather than trusting Jesus to meet our needs, there is a tendency to trust money to provide what we need. Most of us are well intentioned, yet we wrestle with the question of giving. Jesus even assures us that we have liberty to test Him to provide for us in response to our faithful giving. Many times I think its simply fear that keeps us from going there. One of the questions I closed with was: would you take that step that seems so scary and then give God the opportunity to fill in that financial gap that so freaks you out? You can listen to the entire message @ and then click on “audio messages”.
This is the week to move ahead with your personal spiritual growthplan for 2020. Get intentional and try out one or even several of the classes. Make this the year that you will give your spiritual growth plan first priority. Times and dates can be found in “What’s Happenin” underneath.
Deacon Nominations: This coming Sunday is the last Sunday for you to nominate a person to join our deacon team in 2020. If you’re a regular supporter and attender of SCCC, we invite you to participate in the choosing of these additional deacons. A qualifications handout, along with a nomination ballot can be found on the information table at the back of the sanctuary.
God’s best to you in 2020,
Pastor Glenn & Jeannine
