Good Day to You. Sometimes in our being prepared we get prepared for the worse. Hurricane Nora is to bear down on our community by Wednesday early in the morning (or late Tuesday evening, depending on when your day started.) It has had a terrible effect on the lives of many south of us. There has been extreme wind and rain, losses that you wish on one. And they too were warned and had opportunity to be prepared.

In our community we brought in what we could bring in and packed away, tied down, locked up and sand bagged what we could. Being prepared is the right thing to do.

But we can only be prepared for somethings and other events are just going to happen and we won’t know that it is coming. Life has so many unexpected moments. I have determined not to live in fear. I don’t know what tomorrow brings or where I may be in a week or a year. I don’t know what the doctor may say or maybe a wheel will fall off my motorcycle. But I won’t live in fear. My life has purpose and a destiny. I think I know what it is but then there are surprises. I am not in control as much as I would like to think I am!

Many decades ago (in the last century, I think) I gave my controlled life to God. All my efforts of control were just giving me ulcers. I let go of the rope of control and dropped into His space of the Cross. And ever since that day it has been the wildest, funest ride you could image. Some of it has had bumps and I have some bruises and sorrows, but the moments I remember best are the joys, the great people I have met, the places I have seen, the experiences I have had.

It has been more than I could have been prepared for. If I thought I had been prepared and controlled I think I would have missed out on knowing you. Yes you. I am only knowing you and you reading this, because for one, I let go of the rope of control and dropped into the space of the Cross. And because of that decision, we have met in these circumstances.

Fear does not rule me; Jesus Christ does, because I let go. You can be prepared for many things and events in life but not everything. And to live in fear of those is not life at all. So just let go of that remaining thread you are holding and drop!

Thank you to Pastor David Benedey for his message to our church on Sunday. He spoke from Revelation 3:1-6, the message for the church in Sardis. I wouldn’t take it as a rebuke to our church but as an encouragement.

Blessings, Pastor Chuck. Next Sunday we celebrate the Lord’s Table. Be prepared!

This coming Sunday, Mark Knaak is preaching. He and his wife Patricia are involved in missions via children’s ministries. Mark is one of the most accomplished speakers I have heard. (it takes a lot to impress me)

We will be open for public worship services Sunday. STRICT regulations are being kept regarding facemasks, and hand sanitizer. Service will also be LIVE on Facebook. You do not need an account. But as San Carlos is growing and it adds more demand on the available wifi service providers, it affects the upload of our video feed. If the “live” feed you are receiving is interrupted we encourage you to please return and go the page and bring up “Videos” and you will find the recorded video for each Sunday.
