Good Morning to You, I love being in the water and snorkeling. It is a different world and I get to see some amazing life. About a week ago I was out with some friends in the water. At one place it was so turbulent because of rocks. I was getting moved around by the waves. But just several feet below me were the most beautiful fish completely not bothered by the struggle I was having at the surface. They were deep in the water and I was swimming at the surface. Some fish are so far into the deep they never experience the turbulent currents us surface swimmers do.

Life can be like that too. I have every reason to be panicked at the surface. Life is really turbulent. I consider others who are in this life swim with me too. They are in such times of turbulence. How do we find peace in these troubled waters?

Me, I go for long walks and pray lots. If I am walking, I probably am praying. I am trying to find peace and a deeper time with Jesus. The deeper I go in my relationship with Him, the more peace I have. I can be like those fish, swimming in turbulent waters and not feeling tossed about, because I am deep enough. Stop living in the faith found at the surface. Go into deeper faith of relationship with Jesus.

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives, do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27

How deep do you need to go?

This week we continued to look at Difficult saying of Jesus. We examined Matthew 5:39, “Turn the other Cheek.” Another saying we toss around and so often misuse. Is this really a verse to tell us not to be violent or not to defend ourselves? What do you think?  Was the song by Kenny Rogers “Coward of the County” correct? Maybe you should listen to it. The song gives us such a common belief of what Jesus was saying. But I think the common understanding that the world has of this saying is very wrong.  Check the links below for FB or the audio on line at our web site.

Next Sunday “Eating the Flesh & Drinking the Blood.” John 6:53

Blessings, Pastor Chuck.
