It is a good Day, Next Sunday we have a baby dedication! Maggie brought us a little baby. The baby was brought to her orphanage this past week and on Sunday was only 21 days old. It has been a very long time since I held a baby that small. I am excited to pray over this little one!

So many people have left, but this spring 3 more families have made SCCC their home. These 3 families are full time residents. Where ever you are, take some time and get to know those people in church that you have not met before and get to know them. People are amazing.

Financial Report for April is available. Email us for that report. Please consider supporting SCCC in your tithes and offerings. Our web site provides all the links to make donations to SCCC in Canada, U.S.A. or Mexico. If you consider SCCC your church then freely ask for the financial statements.

Right Now Media. SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We offering this resource to you very soon! I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.

Sunday we looked at two pieces of scripture from the Gospel of John. Chapter 14:16-18, revealed to us that Jesus would send to us another to help us and this would be the Spirit of truth. I was thinking how difficult this was for those listening to him to understand this discourse that we have in chapters 14 to 16. But then upon his resurrection so much of his words would have come together for them. And he did not leave them as orphans.

Then in chapter 15:26-27 Jesus seems to repeat himself with more clarity. The Spirit of truth will testify or be a witness of who Jesus is. I remember and many of you do to, that when we first gave our life to the Lord, there was this awakening of our spirit and we knew Jesus was not just some historical figure but a present real person and being. And what did we do, we started to tell others what we knew. We knew Jesus was real.

I have many translations of the Bible and there are more available on-line. Chapter 15:26  uses this in the Greek, paracletos, that is translated many ways. None seem to work just right! But perhaps it is because the paracletos is all of these! But it doesn’t seem to get us any closer to knowing who is the Holy Spirit? Then I see in 14:26 in the NIV, “But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit” and in this I see that John describes the Holy Spirit as the paracletos! This is all of these and the Spirit of truth.

Here is not the place for a long discourse of my own to unravel this. My 33 minute message is on the website for the church and the video is on Facebook. Or write to me and I will join you as we discover more of Who is the Holy Spirit?

Blessings, Pastor Chuck.  This coming Sunday, we continue our series on “Who is the Holy Spirit?” from the Gospel of John 14
