It is a good Day, Do you remember as a child when you liked being upside down and seeing the world different? Or getting up high and looking down? Something about climbing and looking around at the familiar views from a higher vantage point is just something I still like.

This week I was on the platform of the church and looking across the room. And up in the balcony looking down into the main sanctuary. It gave me a good perspective on our church. And I was just thankful for those who did all the work of carrying chairs, laying electric wires, the carpentry for the cabinet, the wall finish and paint and a new bookcase. Then I watched the men working retaping the tapes in the ceiling and running a new fiberoptic cord for the projector. Thank you everyone!

There are some photos on the SCCC facebook page.

Sunday, was Pentecost. We looked at Acts 2.  I think some people expected a classical look at this familiar story. But insert yourself into the story. Those people were gathered praying and pondering what Jesus meant by his last instruction to wait for the promise from the Father. Many others were in town because it was the Hebrew Feast of Weeks. A celebration of the first harvest 50 days after Passover. No one expected what happened next. God showed up.

It was our last message as we looked at Who is the Holy Spirit? He showed up at their prayer meeting. We all desire that. But my problem is we expect and want him to come in a manner of our expectation and our comforts. And God didn’t do that on that Pentecost day. Then we try to replicate theses events hoping for a repeat. But again, God just doesn’t operate the same predictable way. I have seen both of these in the church. We pray for revival or a visitation from the Holy Spirit and then expect that within our own expectations and comforts. Second we expect and try to repeat the events of Acts 2 or some other revival we are familiar with.

In our lives and in our church, we should let God be as he chooses. We should be expectant but willing to be free with what he does. Myself I trust God will be present in SCCC in whatever manner minsters to and through our people. I pray just to know Him more and that I can be more suitable to serve Him. Join me in this pursuit.

Blessings, Pastor Chuck.  This coming Sunday, Mark 9; the boy has seizures and is healed. He met Jesus and it changed his life. How did he move on with his life?

Right Now Media. Is ready! SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.
