Good Morning SCCC Family,        * Should have heard Lynne’s words – “we had over 40 ladies who attended our Ladies Luncheon who do not attend our church or perhaps any church.” Erika Tjernland hit the ball out of the park (excuse the male oriented analogy) as 126 seated guests listened to her share a very personal story of how God met her at her most challenging points in life. Way to go ladies. What a neat way to introduce all of these gals to the study on “Believing God” beginning on January 13. And this year, the study will include a Spanish speaking small group. WOW! We are praying that many of the guests will consider being a part of this study.

* For those of you who would like to sign up for Erika’s Blog and Prayer Journal, you can do so at:   http://eepurl.com/XYGk1 .

* Forgiveness – I have received several amazing emails, heard a few stories and have been utterly blessed as people have shared with me how the Holy Spirit has been directing their steps in this area of forgiveness. I am in awe of God at work among us. He is so worthy of our Praise.

* Prayer Updates:
Fran Swift’s surgery went well yesterday. She is home and resting. If all continues to go well, she will be able to begin dialysis in one month. They asked me to pass on their gratitude for your prayers. Keep both Fran and Dean in your prayers.
Chuck Mortons have also returned home. Chuck will have knee replacement surgery in January, as well as possible back surgery. They are home for Christmas to be with their daughter in law and family. Carol’s son passed away this summer. So there is lots on their plates as well.
Alex Echeribel also asks for our prayers as several of his sisters have been very sick lately. They have had several significant losses in their lives over the last few months.
“Dora” a mid wife, who often serves with the Van Kirks and Tjernlands in La Mesa, was recently serving in Montenegro. While there, she experienced a false accusation and was then imprisoned. After a month of being alone, without any communication, her husband was finally able to see her last week. There is still no resolution and no idea when she will be released. Dora was just a sweet lady who we got to meet while in La Mesa. Please pray for her.

* A few Reasons to Celebrate in December – This is worthy of honor!!!!
Jack and Judy Locklear celebrated 61 years of marriage on Dec 12.
John and Eddie Maclaren will celebrate 64 years on the 23rd.
Jerry and Flo Lebo will celebrate 66 years this Sunday (21st).

* Another great Potluck last Thursday – Highlight for me was Sheila Pfister’s song “Who will love me for me.” Amazing words reminding us to be thankful for the people around us, not just for what they do, but for who they are. Thanks Sheila.

* Some more tin on the roof this week. The fixtures are in the banos (washrooms). Doors are hung. Even the Sanctuary doors were placed yesterday. Foyer is painted. Hallway joining the buildings is completed, tiled and painted. Chairs were delivered last weekend. Lots happening.

* You are going to be seeing some new faces at the door and in the aisles in the coming days (greeters & ushers or “hushers” as my grandson calls them). Di is slotting in new folks in a number of places, including the Care and Fellowship Ministries. Thanks for offering to serve in these places. So if you see a new greeter, tell them how thankful you are to see their smile when you come to church.

* Deacon nominations will close on Jan 7th. Your nomination must be in by that date as there will be no nominations from the floor at the AGM. If you have any questions, please ask myself or one of the present deacons.

* Spanish Class Update: Beginning Friday January 9 (4-6pm) at the church – a weekly, Beginner Spanish Class. This class will be offered on a donation basis. This is a great resource, in particular if you’re helping at any of our Missions. Its so much more fun if you can communicate, even just basics, not just at the Missions, but right here in community.

* Remember the Bible School “Italian Dinner” Fundraiser this Thursday at 5:30pm. Call Howard or Katie for details if you’d still like to go. The funds from this event will help cover the costs of Pastors who might otherwise not be able to attend.

* Join us at either of the Christmas music oriented services this weekend.
* Christmas Day Service at 9:30 am.
* No Service on Saturday, Dec 27.
* Regular Service on Sunday, Dec 28.

Enjoy your journey with Jesus,
Glenn y Jeannine
