It is a good Day;  Absent!  Even though we get away to visit family and friends, we feel absent from the body we are attached to. We were just discussing this the other day. It is good to be away but we sure miss our other family and friends. There is no place like home. It was first said by Dorothy in the movie, Wizard of Oz. And many of us have said this too. But where is ‘home?’ I am thinking now as I write this of the scripture, Ephesians 2:29, ESV translation says, “you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints…” My home is where the body of believers are. That is my church community. That is where my home is now. It will be good to be at the table on Thursday September 14 for the church potluck dinner. But it will be a greater joy to be with all the believers when we join that table in the Lord’s presence in heaven.

Sunday, Jorge came to visit us and brought the Word from Romans 1:16-17. He spoke of how the righteousness of God is revealed in the gospel.  We tend to shorten that to a few passages of the Bible, but the gospel is the good news found in the word of the entire Bible. The message of God’s love is revealed in Christ, his life, death and resurrection.

Now what of us? We are lost without Jesus and so is everyone. We as the church and believers should live and preach the gospel, in boldness. Now for me that means not shrinking back when challenged to live or act out the faith I have. I will not be ashamed of the gospel I have come to believe in. Therefore knowing the power of the gospel I will not back down but will continue to live in proclamation of what I believe.

As I look around, I see everyone else in the world making bold proclamations of what they believe, (for example, Winnipeg Jets hockey team is the best!) Or making statements of their political beliefs, and beliefs and hopes in science. Now why would we shrink back in our belief that the gospel of Jesus is powerful and true?

What will the church do?

Right Now Media. Is ready! SCCC has taken a one year membership with Rightnow Media. We are offering this resource to SCCC. I love using Rightnow Media and am very excited that you will be able to have this material resource too! It contains biblical educational videos that have accompanying study books that compliment the video, these can be used for group study or personal study. The studies available are of books of the Bible and also some that are topical. There are resources for adults, men, women, teens and videos teaching for children. I also found ‘conference’ videos that you can take advantage of. In all there are 20,000 videos available. That is a lot of education and inspiration material. The purpose of SCCC in offering this to you is to give you the resources to explore your faith and grow in Christian maturity.

This membership provides for us material in English and Spanish, so it suits our church community very well. Please take advantage of this material and let us know what you think.
