We are gearing up for another busy season at SCCC! The balcony is open, chairs are being added. Board meetings will begin. The mid week Bible study will begin in a couple of weeks. I am looking forward to that too. More information on that next week. Soon it will Thanksgiving and then Christmas and then more people here at SCCC after the new year 2022 begins. I am looking forward to a season of being so busy I won’t have time to shovel snow! And oh it is just perfect weather. Neither air conditioning nor heat is needed. I, feel like celebrating something.Saturday a group of us from staff and church friends, we climbed the Cerro Tetakawi. It is 1000 feet above sea level. What a climb! I am glad we went. It was a good team building experience. Dean K and I chatted a lot on the way down. In many places we all had to help one another with a hand or lift. Then we went for pizza. I was exhausted. I think the younger people were just hot but still had steam left. What I enjoyed, other than the views, was the time together sharing that experience, and getting to know these people. I came away thinking what a fine group of friends and staff I am with! Then during Communion Service the next day, I almost fell off…. the church platform. Three steps up and I almost took a tumble. You can watch it on the Facebook video. My epic fail! Go up and down a mountain and then fall off a stage! This past Sunday we explored Mark 8 and saw how men that walked right beside Jesus, still lacked faith. You probably know the story of the feeding of the 4000 people with just the seven loaves and then having seven baskets of leftovers! Yet when they got in the boat with Jesus they are all in a fuss because they only had one loaf to share. It should have been, “Hey no problem, we have Jesus with us. We will probably have leftovers.” But that wasn’t the story. Instead they complained.Their reasoning was based on the negative instead of the positive that they had Jesus in the boat. With Jesus there why would they think like that? Then look what happens in 8:27, Jesus sees their error is based upon the wrong foundation for their thinking. And he asks them, “Who do people say that I am?” Then all the social media opinions show up. Well some say this and some say that. Everyone is an expert and has an opinion. They were telling Jesus some were saying he was Elijah, or one of the prophets. Then Jesus really drops it on them, “But who do you say I am?”And there it is. Who Jesus is in your life will affect a lot of the base foundation for your thinking. How is your thinking and reasoning these days? Does it start with Jesus? Is your thinking faith based? You can listen to this message @; Facebook is available too. And you do not need an account., Pastor Chuck.
