As of today, it is eight and a half weeks to Christmas. Yep that is all. In my research I found out that the average temperature in Canada eh on Christmas Day is 32 f or 0 Celsius. Cold enough to wear a mask. That is figuring in that some cities are much colder (spit freezes before it hits the ground and places like Vancouver, you just need a light jacket and a Timmies.) In U.S.A. it is 35.7 f or 2 c. That is averaging in Alaska to Florida. I left out that big beautiful island in the Pacific Ocean. In Mexico it is 75 f or 23.8 c. That is a country over all average. Meaning snow will melt. No snow shovels. No snowmobiles. And sorry Chris, no ski lifts.

Yesterday was like Christmas for us. Art and Brenda arrived from the north and brought us a box of items we had purchased a couple of moths ago and left with them. Clothes and tools and some food items we can’t get here. It was fun unpacking the box and saying, “Just what I needed.” Each Sunday in this season is a little like Christmas as I look around and see different people that have returned! But I am still in anticipation of Christmas and even more the second return of Christ.

Bob B. is doing well. In a few weeks Jenny and Jesse will return to us too. Jesse could use a lot of prayer for strength. I spoke with Brandon the other day. He is doing very well but says he gets ‘winded’ easily. Visit the church web site and there is a page “Prayer Wall” It is not for news but for needs of prayer. It only takes a moment to pray for one of our community. Prayer Wall | Pastors Desk (

It is these relationships we have that encourage me. In the people I know, both in and outside the church I see the signature of God. Just what is the “signature of God?” The Bible says in Ecclesiastes 4:9 that “Two are better than one …” I can see in people the evidence of God. It is seen better in relationships. We are created in His image, but the closer I get the better I see that image in people. No one is meant to be alone. (There goes that song in my head again, “One is the loneliest number” Three Dog Night. Yes you need to be born in the last century to understand.) I won’t retell last Sunday’s message here. It is on the website audio if you wish.

When Lynn and I were away and I had those weeks off, it was the people I missed. The relationships of chatting and sharing lives with all these people from such diversity. SCCC is like a big salad bar at the Golden Corral!

Good news, for extra space and social distancing, the balcony is open. November 7, The Children’s Ministry for under 4 will resume.

Blessings, Pastor Chuck. Next Sunday, “Triumph in Christ” 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 Can you be nice smelling?

We will be open for public worship services Sunday. Service will also be LIVE on Facebook. You do not need an account. If the “live” feed you are receiving is interrupted we encourage you to please return and go the page and bring up “Videos” and you will find the recorded video for each Sunday.
