When A Believer Dies

Chuck Sheridan Avatar

This week Penny Dreiling went home to heaven.  On earth, none of us are ever fully prepared to say goodbye no matter how hard we try.  We are just never ready to let go and the finality of having that person leave us leaves a huge void.

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of his saints.”  Psalm 116:15

I love that verse.  I find great comfort in it.  “Precious” is one of those words that extracts deep feeling, value, solace, and wonder.  God sees a believer’s passing as “Precious.”  Death to God is the welcoming home of a very “Precious” soul.  He has a place prepared for that person according to John 14.  Eternity, beyond this world, has been waiting for that “Precious” one and now the fulness of that waiting has come to reality.  Death, in our heart, is very hard when we say goodbye to a believer.  For God it stirs a deep joy, “Preciousness.”
